Work experience

1984-1991: Self-employed blacksmith, working mainly to commission. A full range of work undertaken, including architectural work, restoration, jewellery making, door and fireplace furniture, shop fittings. Also short periods working as a journeyman blacksmith.
1992-1995: Skillshare Africa (British development agency working in Southern Africa): Restored heritage site and provided on-the-job training to local young people in Botswana
1995-1999: Journeyman smith in the UK, working with Terrence Clark, David James, Phil Johnson and Alan Dawson
1998: Head Trainer, Caerta Inneona School of Blacksmithing, Eire.
2000-2010: Lecturer in blacksmithing at Herefordshire College of Technology, teaching at all levels from foundation, through diploma to degree.
2010-ongoing: Self employed blacksmith establishing a new business, working mainly to commission.

1985: Assisted setting up forging stations, BABA conference, Ironbridge, Shropshire.
1987: Served as Forgemaster, and member of the co-ordinating committee, BABA conference, Herefordshire College of Technology (HCT), Hereford.
1989: Served as Forgemaster, and member of the co-ordinating committee, at the “First International Festival of Iron” (FIFI) conference, Cardiff, Wales.

1999-2000: Member of editorial team of Artist Blacksmith with responsibility for reporting on events outside the UK.

2012 to date: Member of the blacksmithing committe for the Three Counties Showground.
2014 to 2016: member of the coordinating committee for "Ypres 2016", an international blacksmithing event remembering all those in WW1 who fell, who survived, their families and communities.
